Uganda based Tembo Steels (U) Ltd, continues to reign in the global steel sector after being the first company in the world to produce low Carbon Steel from Cast Iron.

Tembo the Most Diversified & Integrated Steel Plant in Africa with the Largest Product Portfolio through Integrated Route Covering All Four Verticals of Steel remains an icon in the steel and steel products manufacturing, as it centers on innovation, technology and value addition.
To produce low-carbon steel from cast iron, a process is used to reduce the high carbon content of cast iron to the lower levels found in steel. This is typically done by blowing oxygen into the molten cast iron, a process called oxidation, which burns off excess carbon. The resulting carbon oxides escape as gas, leaving behind the lower carbon steel.
