Headlined by one of the most influential figures in global dancehall Vybez Kartel, the festival aims to position East Africa as a growing force within the international live entertainment landscape.

“Talanta East Afrika Festival is about creating a platform that unites East Africans through music, culture and shared identity,” said Bushington of Tunez Records Uganda, one of the festival’s lead organisers.

“We believe the region has incredible talent and cultural energy, and this festival is designed to showcase that power to both regional and global audiences.”

A Festival with Regional Vision

At a time when the global music festival industry is valued at over USD 2.2 billion and growing rapidly, Africa and the Middle East represent the fastest-growing markets.

Talanta East Afrika Festival aims to position East Africa at the forefront of this cultural expansion.

The festival is built around four core pillars:

Heritage & Language

Celebrating Kiswahili as a shared regional identity that connects cultures across East Africa.

Cultural Diversity

Showcasing music, fashion, cuisine and creative expression from across the region.

Sustainability & Impact

Prioritising responsible production practices and community engagement.

Innovation & Unity

Blending live and digital experiences to amplify East African talent and cultural storytelling globally.

Youth at the Heart of the Movement

Targeting a digitally connected audience aged 18–35, Talanta East Afrika Festival speaks directly to a generation that values experiences, culture and identity.

From aspirational students to young professionals, the festival is designed as a cultural milestone — a space where young East Africans can connect, express themselves and create shared memories.

With strong engagement across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and WhatsApp, the festival will also leverage influencer collaborations and digital storytelling in the lead-up to the May 2026 tour dates.

Economic and Cultural Impact

Beyond entertainment, Talanta East Afrika Festival has been structured as a regional economic catalyst.

The initiative aims to:

  • Drive tourism and hospitality revenue across host cities
  • Create employment opportunities across production, security, creative and vendor sectors
  • Stimulate local fashion, food and nightlife economies
  • Provide cross-border exposure for East African artists and creatives

Organisers confirmed that 100% of the festival workforce in each host country will be sourced locally, reinforcing the platform’s commitment to community empowerment and sustainable growth.

Celebrating East African Talent

While Vybz Kartel will headline the festival, organisers confirmed that the full line-up of East African artists will be revealed progressively in the coming weeks as performers and collaborators officially come on board.

The festival is expected to feature a mix of both established and emerging artists from across the region, reflecting the diversity and vibrancy of East Africa’s evolving music scene.

Further announcements regarding artists, partnerships and ticketing information will be released in phases as the festival build-up continues.
