Lions Club of Jinja Installs Rajesh Raaychura as New President, Donates to Communities, PWDs in Jinja

The District Governor of Lions District 411B-Uganda Mr. Benon Kataate has lauded club members and corporate social organizations for their impactful contributions towards societal welfare, particularly for the less privileged.

The commendation was made Saturday June 6th 2024 during the installation ceremony of Mr Rajesh Raaychura as the new president-elect of Lions Club Jinja, held at Bax Hotel, Jinja City.

Mr Kataate praised the Lions Club for their dedication to community service, highlighting the significant role such organizations play in enhancing public welfare and supplementing government efforts.

The event was marked by the handover of wheel chairs to Jinja PWDs in collaboration with the Indian Association of Jinja, planting of trees at Lions Club of Jinja Nursery school to promote environmental conservation, Commissioning of a passenger shelter near Children’s Hospital in Nalufenya. This donation is expected to enhance the welfare of PWDs and public transport for passengers mostly from the Nalufenya children’s hospital.

“I am excited to witness the efforts of the Lions Club in providing spirited services to the community” said Kataate.

He additionally highlighted the significance of combined efforts between social organizations and the government in addressing community needs and improving service delivery across the country.

Mr Rajesh Raaychura, the new president of Lions Club of Jinja who was accompanied by other leaders from Lions club of Jinja including; Elizabeth Kasolo, Bashir Mawa, Babyerabira Sarah, Geeta Hathi ,Hajati Takolakibi,Frank Kayemba, Ivan Nsimbi ,Fr.Kayaga Gonza Richard, Heena Raaychura among others , said they are determined to continue giving support to the under privileged and also supplement government efforts in empowering communities.

Mr Raaychura promised to preserve the club’s reputation and lift them to greater heights adding that they will collectively set up plans for pursue them as a team for better achievement.

The mission of Lions Club international is to empower Lions clubs, volunteers and partners to improve health and wellbeing, strengthen communities, and support those in need through humanitarian service and grants that impact lives globally, and encourage peace and international understanding.
