Thousands Grace Bunyoro PLU Thanks-Giving for the Appointment of Gen. Muhoozi to CDF

DEVELOPING STORY: The National Vice Chairman of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), Mr Micheal Nuwagira Kaguta, aka Toyota, led a rally Friday celebrating the Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s appointment as the new Chief of Defence Forces (CDF).

It should be remembered that H.E Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda and Commander in Chief (CiC) of the UPDF appointed Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba as the the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), replacing Gen Wilson Mbasu Mbadi who was appointed Minister of State for trade in the cabinet reshuffle announced 21 Mar 2024.

The Bunyoro PLU thanks giving ceremony which was held at Hoima Booma grounds, in Hoima City June 29th 2024, was also attended by the Kasambya Member of Parliament David Kabanda who doubles as the Secretary General of PLU, national and regional mobilsiers, business community, MPs from Bunyoro region among other stakeholders.

The day’s festivities started with a colorful mass where religious leaders hailed President Museveni for transforming Uganda’s economy, security and peace which has seven key investments including the oil and gas sector in the region, health and education among others. The religious leaders joined politicians in advocating for continuity of the NRM / Museveni legacy by backing Gen.Muhoozi for Presidency if Uganda consolidated the achievements achieved in the past decades.

Speakers who addressed the gathering earlier including musician Moses Ssali aka Bebecool urged Ugandans to cultivate a sense of patriotism by cherishing and holding loyalty to their country to contribute to the National development.

The event was also boosted by several key mobilsiers both from Uganda and outside the country including Mr Francis Nkuusa, the head of PLU in USA, whose ‘foot soldiers ‘graced the event after a procession around Hoima city with banners and donned in Gen.MK T-shirts.

Area leaders led by Brian Kaboyo, the City Mayor for Hoima, hailed Uganda’s President for appointing Gen.MK, saying the achievements can only be consolidated by the latter, which includes an international airport , Oil roads among other notable developments.

Leaders from other regions including Busoga , Central , Ankole , and Northern Uganda graced the event to show solidarity and support to the PLU leadership and supporters in the region.

The current Kingdom covers the districts of Buliisa District, Hoima district, Kibaale District, Kakumiro District, Kagadi District, Kiryandongo District and Masindi District.

Because of the increased economic activity in the area, Hoima was upgraded to city status, with increased infrastructure to handle the new businesses and new residents.

Between 2000 and 2009, a considerable amount of oil deposits, estimated at between 2.5 billion to 3.5 billion barrels, were discovered in Lake Albert and on the shores of the lake in Hoima District and the neighboring Buliisa District. An oil refinery, the Uganda Oil Refinery, is planned in Kabaale Village, Buseruka Sub-county, Hoima District, approximately 34 kilometres (21 mi), west of Hoima. An oil pipeline, the Uganda-Tanzania Crude Oil Pipeline, is also planned to evacuate crude oil to the Tanzanian Indian Ocean port of Tanga. Consequently, Hoima is poised to become a hub of economic activity.PLU
