Over 3000 students from Air Force Senior Secondary School in Entebbe were on Thursday passed out after undergoing intensive training on patriotism.
During the pass out ceremony held at Air Force Senior Secondary School, the Entebbe Deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC), Mr Hakim Kirigwa who was the chief guest said the training is part of an initiative that the security committee has thought of to help schools instill discipline among the learners as well as driving them to develop love for the state and the environment they live in.
He said patriotism is one way of trying to shape a person to be a good citizen and further appealed to the students to also love East Africa and Africa at large to be able to benefit from the continent.
Mr Kirigwa nevertheless advised those with bad perception towards patriotism to style up especially those who say patriotism is for President Museveni and NRM party saying its only through Patriotism that a person can develop love for oneself.

The RDC, on the other hand, cautioned the students against indiscipline acts like alcoholism, smoking and prostitution that could ruin their lives, adding that patriotism is a strong pillar of development since it is the basis of strong homes, admirable communities and respectable nations.
The event was also attended by the security officials in Entebbe, among other stakeholders .
The National Secretariat for Patriotic Corps also referred to as NSPC was established in 2009 by H.E the President of Uganda. With the mandate to develop and coordinate Patriotism clubs in all post primary schools and institutions country-wide. It is a department under the Office of the president responsible for the Promotion of Patriotism ideology in schools.
It is a National Strategic initiative by the president to indoctrinate the norms and values of patriotism to all students and the youth of Uganda. The ultimate goal of this program is to produce a new breed of enlightened citizens committed and devoted to the National cause willing to sacrifice for the country.
