Uganda Advertising Association, Uganda Marketers Society, Loeries Join Forces for the 2nd Annual SilverBack Awards Celebrating Excellence in Marketing and Advertising

The Uganda Advertising Association (UAA), Uganda Marketers Society (UMS), and The Loeries Awards Company, a non-profit company administering awards for the brand communications industry, in Africa and the Middle East are excited to announce their collaborative partnership for the upcoming 2nd Annual SilverBack Awards, set to take place on 18th November in Kampala.

The SilverBack Awards, established as a prestigious platform to recognize and honor outstanding achievements in the realm of marketing and advertising, has garnered significant attention and acclaim since its inception. Building on the success of the inaugural edition, the collaboration between UAA, UMS, and Loeries promises an even grander celebration of creativity, innovation, and excellence in the industry.

Speaking at the virtual partnership launch event, Frank Muthusi, Chairman of the Uganda Advertising Association said; “We are very excited to partner with Loeries and UMS. This year’s awards will be grander with more advertising, marketing, and Public Relations categories catered for. Loeries will provide us with a world class judging platform, give us guidance and assist in the judging process hence setting the standards for the Silverback Awards even higher”.

The Silverback awards are back this year with many more categories to recognise for advertisers and marketers and a bigger collaborative partnership with Loeries.

 

David Balikudembe, President of the Uganda Marketers Society noted the importance of collaborative efforts to grow the professional standards of the industry saying,

“The participation of the Uganda Marketers Society in this joint awards exercise with our sister body, in addition to enhancing industry credibility and recognition, holds immense significance for the marketing community. The collaborative approach fosters a culture of innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and professional growth, ultimately elevating the status of marketing as a strategic driver of business success across diverse sectors. By celebrating excellence and creativity within a broader context, such initiatives empower marketers to transcend conventional boundaries and make a lasting impact on both their organizations and the industries they serve.”

The 2nd Annual SilverBack Awards will serve as a platform to commend exceptional campaigns, outstanding professionals, and forward-thinking organizations that have pushed the boundaries of creativity and effectiveness. The awards ceremony will feature various categories spanning across print, digital, television, radio, and integrated campaigns, providing an inclusive representation of the diverse talent and strategies within the industry.

Preetesh Sewraj, C.E.O Loeries affirmed the platform’s partnership saying,

The SilverBack Awards is not only a celebration of creative brilliance but also a platform for knowledge sharing, networking, and inspiration. The Uganda Advertising Association (UAA) is a leading industry organization dedicated to fostering the growth and development of the advertising sector in Uganda. UAA works towards promoting excellence, ethics, and professionalism in advertising. The Silverback Awards, a product of UAA started in 2022 with the goal to recognizing the creative talent of Uganda.

The awards are an initiative of The Uganda Advertising Association serves to protect the interests of advertising, media, creative and digital agencies with an emphasis on professionalising the communications industry to provide the best services to the larger brand communications industry. The Silverback Awards are already highly sought-after and last year saw Club Pilsner announced as Brand of the Year and TBWA as agency of the year. Entries for Silverback 2023 open on the 15 August and the entry deadline is the 30 September. The awards ceremony will be held in Kampala on 18th November.

Uganda Marketers Society (UMS) is a collective of dynamic and visionary marketers who are driving impactful marketing initiatives in Uganda. UMS aim to elevate the marketing profession through collaboration, education, and recognition of outstanding achievements.
