Anticipation is rising fast in Kampala and across the diaspora ahead of the Saturday kickoff of the African Nations Cup UK (ANCUK) 2025, where Uganda takes on Benin in the opening match at 4PM at the Bobby Moore Sports Hub in London.

Equity Bank Uganda, recently unveiled as the Main Partner of the high-profile event, has been stoking excitement online with teaser posts, declaring: “Jerseys? Ready. Kickoff? 4PM tomorrow. Uganda vs Benin – are YOU ready?”

Earlier today, Equity Bank’s Head of Diaspora Banking Winifred Warui and Cross Border Payment Relationship Manager Rosalind Okello presented a Uganda jersey to former national team player Mathius Ndawula, symbolizing the Bank’s strong support for Team Uganda.

The African Nations Cup UK is billed as a cultural celebration bringing together diaspora-based African teams in a showcase of sport and heritage. The 2025 edition runs from June 21–22 and will feature teams competing across two age categories, accompanied by vibrant cultural displays.

“We are proud to be the main partner of the African Nations Cup UK 2025. Football unites us, and this partnership underscores our continued dedication to Africa’s socio-economic transformation,” said Mr. Gift Shoko, Managing Director of Equity Bank Uganda.

As main partner, Equity will also host on-site activations during the tournament to connect with the East African community and highlight its role as a financial bridge between home and abroad.
