Science, Technology and Innovation Secretariat-Office of the President (STI- OP) is pleased to announce that the National Science Week 2025 will be held from Sunday 15th June to Friday 20th June at the Kololo Independence Grounds and will be free entry to the public.

Dr Monica Musenero the Honourable Minster in STI-OP made this announcement at a media launch held at the Deep Tech Centre in Namanve in Kampala this morning.
Under the theme Made in Uganda, From Innovation to Market, the science week will have a number of exhibitors show casing their work and give everyone visiting an opportunity to buy a whole compliment of products made in Uganda by local developers who have embraced the opportunity to the secretariat is creating through bureau’s they have established.
In her address to the media the Dr Musenero outlined the achievements realised over the past year, ‘…we have made tremendous strides as a country in moving science out of the labs and into the economy. Guided by our commitment to “Turning Innovation into GDP.” She went further to state ‘…We have transitioned from piloting ideas to building industries…We’ve seen the first clinical trials for locally developed therapeutics take place and we have expanded our electric vehicle ecosystem, with over 5,000 electric motorcycles and 27 buses already on the road with up to 40% local content and set up charging infrastructure across the country of over 140 swapping stations and over 30 DC fast chargers’
The Minister informed also informed the media that the secretariat has revitalized key manufacturing plants like Sukulu Phosphates, launched the Deep Tech and Climate Tech summits, and operationalized vaccine manufacturing lines, not just for animals, but for humans too.
Over the 6day exhibition, guests to the science week will be able to get up close to a number of initiatives the government has enabled, meet the people behind this work and be exposed to the opportunities available to potential investors local and foreign.

Honourable Musenero expressed her appreciation to the Government of Uganda for supporting the secretariat in its work and its commitment to using science, technology and innovation as a special purpose vehicle that will establish Uganda as a leader in the Deep Tech Innovation in Africa. ‘…Hosting the press conference at the Deep Tech Centre is deliberate, we need to show the incredible talent we have in the country, the exciting opportunities we are enabling for young people and the limitless of our imagination…’ The Minister said.
