Akvo International , Buganda Kingdom Partner to Modernize Agriculture

The Buganda Kingdom has partnered with Akvo International to introduce advanced irrigation technologies aimed at modernizing farming practices.

This collaboration opens a new approach for agribusiness investment, productivity growth, and sustainable environmental management across the region.

Held on Tuesday at Bulange Gardens in Mengo, the launch was presided over by the deputy Katikkiro of Buganda Owek. Robert Wagwa Nsibirwa and attended officials from Akvo International led by Mr Victor Kazimiri.

Owek. Nsibirwa said solar-powered irrigation systems support farmers during drought seasons and also Increase  Crop Yields and quality ,reduced labor Costs , increased flexibility and efficiency among other benefits.

Additionally, Owe.Nsibirwa and other officials visited exhibition stalls and interacted with exhibitors.

Hon. Hajjat Mariam Mayanja Nkalubo, the Minister of Welfare, Environment and Human Settlements, said the partnership is expected to empower farmers across Buganda, equipping them to adopt modern farming techniques and adapt to changing environmental conditions.

Victor Kazimiri , the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Akvo International limited, called on farmers to acquire these systems to combat the challenges of drought and water shortages in agriculture.

He said these solar-powered systems aim to increase agricultural productivity while reducing the adverse effects of climate change and will empower farmers across Buganda, equipping them to adopt modern farming techniques and adapt to changing environmental conditions.
