Entebbe RDC Kirigwa Meets Ghetto Youth , urges them to Embrace all Gov’t Programs

The Entebbe Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Mr Hakim Kirigwa has encouraged Ghetto Youth to embrace government poverty alleviation programs like the Parish Development Model (PDM) to enhance their livelihoods.

While meeting the Entebbe Ghetto Youth on Wednesday , Kirigwa who promised support for the Entebbe Ghetto Youth Festival 2025 , explained that the people of the ghetto are part and parcel of Uganda, and they also have a vital role they have to play in the socio-economic transformation of the country assuring them of government support.

‘’Engaging youth in income-generating activities will help eradicate poverty and improve their lives. The government is ensuring that the ghetto youth access various programs, such as the Youth Livelihood Fund and the Parish Development Model (PDM), to achieve poverty eradication and socio-economic transformation in their communities’’, said Kirigwa.

Kirigwa further urged the Entebbe ghetto youth to embrace the sectors of the economy in order to create wealth. He assured them that the government is ready to support them through the already existing government projects.

He encouraged the youth to always organize themselves into manageable groups to benefit from government programs  explaining that programs including  skilling ghetto youth and helping them acquire practical skills will empower them. He also urged them to collaborate with local leaders.

Leader of the Entebbe ghetto youths who attended the meeting, expressed gratitude to President Museveni for empowering their communities through financial and moral support. They assured the RDC of their commitment to working with the government for the socio-economic transformation of the country, and rallied stakeholders to support them in the upcoming Entebbe Ghetto Youth Festival 2025 scheduled for 22nd February.
