Inside Tycoon Hamis Kiggundu Meeting with President Museveni

Business mogul Al-Hajji Hamis Kiggundu had a private meeting with His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the President of Uganda, at State House, Entebbe. They discussed a number of pertinent issues, but primarily focused on Uganda’s hosting of the prestigious Continental showpiece, the African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

 

During the same meeting, Ham informed the President of the progress made thus far at Nakivubo Memorial Stadium. Additionally, he extended a formal invitation to His Excellency to grace the opening of the refurbished national stadium.

This meeting is part of a series of meetings that His Excellency is scheduled to hold with different Uganda Football stakeholders this week in preparation for AFCON 2027.

Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium, commonly referred to as Nakivubo Stadium is almost done to starting to hosting soccer games.

The stadium which is constructed by businessman of Ham group of companies has been designed with seating capacity of about 30,000 is set to be open officially soon.

In July this year, a team from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) inspected the construction progress and standard and were impressed by the works.

The stadium, valued at billions, also garnered high accolades from the CAF officials for meeting the stringent standards required to host prestigious football events like AFCON.

Ham Kiggundu’s remarkable investment in Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium marks a turning point for sports development in Uganda. His unwavering commitment to transforming the once dilapidated stadium into a modern sports complex, meeting international standards, is a credit not just to him but to the entire Uganda as a country.

What sets Ham’s initiative apart is the focus on quality. The stadium’s construction, with its advanced fire and security systems, impeccable exits and entrances, top-notch turf, and high-quality seating arrangements, reflects his commitment to meeting globally recognized standards.

The visit of officials from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Federation of Uganda Football Association to witness and inspect the stadiums’ redevelopment progress is a testament to the monumental changes taking place.

Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium, commonly referred to as Nakivubo Stadium, is a multi-purpose stadium in Kampala, Uganda.

The stadium that was initially established in 1926 was improved and modernized in 1954 by the British colonial government to commemorate the lives of Ugandans killed during the Second World War following the passage of the “Nakivubo War Memorial Act” by the Parliament of Uganda.
