USSSA Mukono District Qualifiers : Seroma Shines in Badminton, Table Tennis

SEROMA Christian High School Mukono, a Global Hub for Christ-centered education services that equip Christ-centered self-motivated and skilled emerging leaders through quality education has again maintained lead in the just concluded Mukono District Qualifiers for Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association ( USSSA).

Among the schools that participated in these competitions include St . Micheal High school Sonde,St Joseph Senior School, Seroma Christian High school A , Seroma Christian High School B, Seeta High school green campus ,Namilyango college and Seeta A-level campus .

Speaking about the victory of the school’s both table tennis and badminton teams , Resident Director Ms. Amelia Kyambadde said Seroma christian school embarked  on promoting co-curricular activities especially sports.

Kyambadde also highlighted one of the key projects including the construction of six new sports grounds within the school. Construction is already underway, and the administration is confident that all facilities will be completed in time for the 2026 events, ensuring that Seroma Christian High School meets the high standards required for hosting national competitions.

All the winning teams in each category automatically qualified to take part in the regional games.

SEROMA Christian High School continues to strive towards sporting excellence, their vision is to provide the best possible sporting experience for all the students .

Alongside the obvious health and fitness benefits, students that participate in sport tend to be more engaged academically and socially. The school’s Christian and result-oriented approach to issues has proved appropriate. While many of their students have been absorbed in the universities in Uganda, others have joined international universities beyond the borders and have excelled.

They provide a carefully assembled package that includes the academics, co- curricular and the Christian social life well guided by their qualified staff.

Derrick Odochi, the schools coach for the badminton team said Seroma is among the schools to represent Uganda at the ISF U-15 Gymnasiade in  Serbia. Uganda will participate in the ISF U-15 Gymnasiade in Zlatibor, Serbia from 4th to 14th April 2025. Kibuli SS and Seroma Christian High School will represent Uganda at the third edition of this grand event.

This prestigious global school sports event will see young athletes from across the world compete in 25 sports including Para sports like Archery, Artistic gymnastics, Badminton, Basketball 3×3, Beach volleyball , Boxing, Chess, Dance Sport, Para Athletics, Para Badminton, Para Swimming among others providing a platform for future champions to showcase their skills and determination.

Of the 25, Uganda will participate in four that are table tennis, swimming, badminton and athletics. This is more than just a competition, it’s a chance for Uganda’s young athletes to gain invaluable international experience, build friendships across borders and reinforce Uganda’s growing status in the world of sports.
