The minister of energy and mineral development Dr Ruth Nankwabirwa has revealed that the 6.6MW Nyagak III Hydroelectric Power Station might be commissioned this year (2023) based on the progress at the site.
Nankabirwa gave this update during the inspection of the plant this weekend.
” I have come here to monitor the progress of this project because it’s very important and critical since the people in West Nile have been anxious to see its operations”, she noted adding that am so much impressed with the developer because whenever I visit this place I find progress and I urge the developer to continue find ways to get funds to complete the work as government also look for funds to pay back” she added.
She also pledged to sweet talk her colleague Matia Kasaija, the minister of finance, to release the remaining 28bn to complete the plant.
