The NCBA Uganda Junior Golf Series 2026 has officially teed off its first season, bringing together young golfers, both boys and girls with a renewed promise to nurture the next generation of champions. The series, now a key fixture on Uganda’s junior sports calendar, aims to develop skills among children aged 6 to 18 while providing exposure to competitive golf.

This season, NCBA is building on the success of the last edition, with expanded opportunities including coaching, training, and increased international exposure. According to the bank, the tournament’s goal is to do more than just sharpen sporting abilities and instill confidence and resilience among participants; it is also to support the development of talented but underprivileged junior players who otherwise wouldn’t have had the opportunity to hone their skills.

Speaking at the opening ceremony held at the Uganda Golf Club on August 23, 2026, the Head of Marketing, Communications and Citizenship, NCBA Bank Uganda, Edgar Tusiime, said that there are 31 junior golfers from disadvantaged backgrounds who have been sponsored through the NCBA Junior Golf Series.

“There are clubs with a lot of talent and very talented kids, but some of them have not been able to join and be part of the Series because they have not had the opportunity or resources to do so. NCBA has taken these young golfers on and offered them full sponsorship, covering their meals, season fees and coaching,” said Tusiime.

“We have seen tremendous results coming from this support,” Tusiime observed, adding: “Out of the 31 juniors who have been sponsored, 7 have gone on to join the national team. That gives us great pride because it shows that this investment is really paying off.” Tusiime added

The Series serves as a direct pipeline to international recognition, based on the U.S. Kids Golf rankings. It offers young players a chance to qualify for prestigious tournaments such as the Rome Classic in Italy and the Big 5 Junior Golf Championship in South Africa. Many of the participants in the Junior Golf Series have indeed gone to compete in these international tournaments both within and outside the region including the Kenya Invitational golf championship. These international appearances not only broaden their horizons but also contribute significantly to their world rankings, solidifying their status among the continent’s most promising golf talents.

Theo Van Rooyen, Director of U.S. Kids Golf in Uganda, applauded the series for its transformative influence. “The NCBA Junior Golf Series has firmly established itself as a pillar of Uganda’s sporting calendar. It has done more than just introduce young people to the game, it has nurtured a deep and lasting love for golf among the next generation,” he stated. He added that the initiative has become a vital catalyst for talent discovery and personal growth, offering a structured platform for players to hone their skills and connect with mentors and stakeholders in both business and sport.

The NCBA Junior Golf Series 2026 will feature 18 tournaments and will run from August 2026 to June 2027, at four golf courses and clubs including Uganda Golf Club, Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa, Entebbe Club and Lugazi Hills Golf and Country Club
