The 2025 Buganda Masaza Cup ended in jubilant scenes at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, as Buweekula lifted their first-ever Masaza Cup trophy after a hard-fought 1-0 win over Ssingo before the Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Mutebi.

In a moment of triumph and celebration, the Kabaka—seen all smiles at the centre of the award ceremony—handed the glittering blue-and-gold trophy to Buweekula’s captain, amid thunderous cheers from fans and players.
Buweekula’s winning goal came in the first half through forward Alex Talemwa, sealing a memorable victory that ended years of heartbreak in the prestigious Buganda Kingdom football competition. The team’s supporters erupted in chants of, “In Felix we trust!” in praise of their coach, Felix Ssekabuuza, who guided them to glory.
The Kabaka was joined by the Katikkiro (Prime Minister) Charles Peter Mayiga and other Buganda Kingdom officials in decorating the players with medals.
Mayiga congratulated the champions, saying, “We congratulate you for winning the Masaza Cup 2025,” and commended the spirit of unity and sportsmanship that defines the annual tournament.
Top Scorer of the Tournament, Jimmy Kalema, who netted eight goals, expressed gratitude to his teammates and fans.
“Being a top scorer is not an easy journey, but I want to thank the coaches, my teammates, and the fans of Buweekula for supporting us all the time,” he said.
Hajji Rajab Ssebulime, Buweekula’s team manager, announced his retirement moments after the victory.
“My dream was to win the trophy, and indeed I have achieved it. My days as team manager are done, and I want to announce that I will not return next season,” he said.
This victory marked the end of Buweekula’s long wait for Masaza Cup success after losing previous finals in 2012 and 2021.
Kyaggwe secured third place after defeating Bugerere 1–0 in the third-place playoff.
