World Environment Day: Equity Bank’s Green Financing ,Tree Planting protecting the Planet

As the world marks #WorldEnvironmentDay, Equity Bank Uganda has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the globe through meaningful action.

Under the theme “Act for Nature,” the bank continues to play a vital role in promoting environmental sustainability, conservation, and the smart use of natural resources across the country.

Equity Bank Uganda is actively involved in green financing and tree planting initiatives to promote sustainability and conservation efforts. They have invested over UGX 22.25 billion in green enterprises and planted 30,118 trees, part of their broader goal of planting 35 million trees across the countries where they operate.

This commitment is reflected in their “Equi Green Loan” designed to support projects in clean energy, environmental preservation, and climate change mitigation.

Green Financing:

Equity Bank Uganda offers loans and financing options for projects that have a positive impact on the environment, aligning with their sustainability goals. This includes support for clean energy initiatives, energy-efficient buildings, and sustainable infrastructure.

Tree Planting Initiative:

As part of their environmental stewardship, Equity Bank Uganda has a significant tree planting program. They have planted 30,118 trees, contributing to the overall Equity Group target of 35 million trees across its operating countries.

The tree planting initiative has been implemented in various areas across Uganda, including Ntungamo, Nyakasura Hill, Rubaga, Kasese, and Mwiri Hill.

Equi Green Loan:This loan product is specifically designed to support projects related to clean energy, environmental preservation, and climate change mitigation.

Equity Bank Uganda places a strong emphasis on social responsibility, with environmental conservation as a key pillar.

The bank works with technical partners and community organizations to ensure the successful implementation of their green initiatives, including tree planting.
