25-year-old man needs support to raise Shs 45 for Sarcoma Radiation Therapy

A man of about 25 years, Mr Ibembe Eliya, who was diagnosed with Sarcoma on his right hand, has appealed to the government, Organizations, and good-spirited individuals to come to his assistance.

Ibembe, who hails from  Kidiki Parish, Namwendwa Town Council, Kamuli District in Busoga sub -region requires the sum of Shs 45m (USD 12000) for sarcoma radiotherapy on the  right upper limb.

The fundraising drive is being spearheaded by Kidiki Life Solution Health Services and Dr Anthony Obaala , a renowned surgeon from Jinja with partners including  Bestcare-Jinja Health Services International and Smile Afresh International Organization.

‘’Eliya’s life took a challenging turn when diagnosed with sarcoma on his right hand. Despite this, he remains hopeful and determined to overcome cancer.We aim to raise Shs 45 million his radiation therapy, giving him a chance to rebuild his life and pursue his dreams’’,Dr Obaala told this publication.

Kaposi’s sarcoma (KS) is a cancer that is prevalent in Uganda and one of the five most common cancers in the country. A report from Global Cancer Observatory indicates that Kaposi sarcoma is among the leading causes of cancer death among Ugandan males.

Sarcoma therapy typically involves a combination of treatment modalities, including surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and targeted therapies. Radiation therapy uses high-energy rays to kill cancer cells. It may be used before surgery to shrink the tumor, after surgery to destroy remaining cancer cells, or as a primary treatment for tumors that cannot be removed surgically.
