President Yoweri Museveni and First Lady Maama Janet Kataha Museveni on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, hosted Muslim leaders and faithful for an Iftar dinner at State House, Entebbe. The gathering, held in the sacred last ten days of Ramadan, was highlighted by themes of unity, economic empowerment, and national development.
At the dinner, President Museveni commended the Muslim community for embracing government programs such as the Parish Development Model (PDM). “Prayer alone will not lift people out of poverty. Engaging in income-generating activities is key to economic liberation,” the President emphasized, urging continued participation in wealth creation initiatives.
Mr Museveni further acknowledged initial concerns over interest rates and reassured that adjustments were necessary and are underway to have this resolved.
A highlight of the evening was the recognition of outstanding Muslims contributing to national development. Among those awarded was Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, the Senior Presidential Advisor and Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), who received an Excellent Service Award for her unwavering leadership and dedication.
Upon receiving her award, Hajjat Namyalo expressed gratitude and reaffirmed her commitment to serving Ugandans. “Despite challenges, we remain steadfast in supporting the President’s vision for transformation,” she stated, rallying support for President Museveni in the 2026 elections.
