Entebbe RDC Kirigwa Receives First Lady Janet Museveni, Italian Ambassador, Commit to Improve Health Care
Entebbe Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Mr Hakim Kirigwa on Sunday received the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni Entebbe Children’s Surgical Hospital.
The first lady was accompanied by various international and National dignitaries including the ambassador of Italy.
Kirigwa told this website that since 1986, the NRM government has put in place many health initiatives to secure the well being of all Children for a better future.
‘’The six killers like Polio, Measles among others which were killing most of the Children were handled, Mama Kit was introduced and it’s being given to the expectant mothers and many others health programs’’, he noted.
Statistics in Uganda indicate an increasing improvement in the delivery of health care to Ugandans. This is mainly as a result of the NRM government’s continued pursuit of its policy on providing health care to all Ugandans.
The NRM government’s policy on health is to ensure that all Ugandans have access to high quality and affordable health care so as to contribute to social economic development and to promote a healthy and productive life. As such, the NRM has facilitated the attainment of this dream through significant completion of various infrastructural developments across the country.
Several hospitals have been rehabilitated and equipped by the government while works are still ongoing at several others across the country.
Entebbe Children’s Surgical Hospital is a specialized children’s pediatric surgery hospital in Uganda. It is a private hospital, owned and operated by Emergency, an international NGO that offers “free medical treatment to the victims of war, poverty and landmines”.
Uganda took over the leadership from Azerbaijan during the ongoing 19th NAM Heads of State and Government summit at Speke Resort Convention Center, Munyonyo. The chairmanship runs for three years.
During the conference, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was elected by acclamation as the chair of the 19th NAM Heads of State and Government Summit, taking over from H.E. Ilham Aliyev, the President of Azerbaijan.
In his speech, President Museveni informed the Heads of State and Heads of Delegations that Uganda’s stand is that the world should concentrate on the common human problems: prosperity through trade, the advance of science and technology to deal with human problems, the environment, crime, and terrorism. He said such ideas are in line with the Bandung Principles, a basis on which NAM was formed.
