NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has blasted Makindye Mayor Ali Nganda Mulyanyama, sent him out of steamy meeting over persistent complaints on Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago.
The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon as several stakeholders engaged in a meeting that would plan for the Thursday Kampala demonstrations that were announced by the Joint Opposition Forces.
In the meeting today, Mulyanyama rose up complaining to the party authorities on why they kept pursuing opposition causes, fronting Erias Lukwago, the Kampala Lord Mayor, disregarding him.
Mulyanyama who also wants to contest for the Kampala Lord Mayoral position together with Kyagulanyi’s brother and head of the Kunga Campaign in NUP Fred Nyanzi Ssentamu remains skeptical on whether the party would award him a ticket for the position when they are hobnobbing with Erias Lukwago.
As he stood up to speak, Kyagulanyi blasted Mulyanyama, wondering why he kept seeking for different political positions even before the campaign period, leaving the party in disrepute.
Sources that asked not to be named told this website that Kyagulanyi who was angry also blamed Mulyanyama for disrespecting senior members of the opposition like Erias Lukwago who has for long a time been a lawyer for top NUP members arrested and imprisoned.
Kyagulanyi also kicked Mulyanyama out of the meeting rendering the Makindye Mayor, not only restless but also ashamed.
“The guy felt small as everyone looked at him. He over stepped the olive branch sent to him by attacking people deemed to be resourceful to the opposition cause in the fight for human rights,” the source further said.
It remains unclear on whether Mulyanyama will return to NUP or whether he will be running for the top Kampala political slot.
Both Mulyanyama and Fred Nyanzi Ssentamu have met a number of Makindye Division leaders attacking one another in the quest to replace Erias Lukwago as Lord Mayor.
