Uganda’s First Son and presidential advisor, special operations Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba was on Tuesday accompanied by Toyota Micheal Nuwagira, the head of Team Chairman to officiate at the a football match between Rwanda Select and Kigezi Select at Kabale municipal stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
Speaking to Journalists after the match, Toyota Nuwagira, the head of Team Chairman MK Project, a diligent famous group promoting the achievements and ambitions of Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba said the match not only promotes talents but also majorly indicates the good relationship between Uganda and Rwanda.
‘’This Match is a clear indication of a good brotherly relationship between Uganda and Rwanda and we are happy that thousands of people have embraced these events’’, said Toyota.
The match ended with Kigezi select football team defeating Gicumbi Football club from Rwanda by 4:2goals on penalty shootouts after their match ended in a one-all draw.
The match that was played in Kabale Municipal stadium was organized as part of pre-event activities for the Kigezi- “Rukundo Egumeho thanksgiving for reopening Katuna-Gatuna border with Rwanda by Team Chairman MK Project.
A thanksgiving concert for Kigezi Region is scheduled for Wednesday at Kigezi Highschool primary in Kabale District for the reopening of Uganda’s borders with Rwanda.
Rwanda reopened its borders with Uganda on January 31 2022, following the visit to Kigali by Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who played a key role in the matter. The borders had been closed on February 27th, 2019.
Now, accompanied by Toyota Micheal Nuwagira , the head of team chairman and other leaders ,Uganda’s first son and also senior presidential advisor Gen Muhoozi Keinerugaba, who is the Guest at the thanksgiving slated for Wednesday 19th April 2023, arrived in Kabale District today at around 01:00pm and welcomed by several leaders from Kigezi region and clouds of people.
On his arrival, Gen Keinerugaba, with Team Chairman Leadership proceeded to Lake Bunyonyi and commissioned an ambulance boat that was donated by Government, through the ministry of health, with funding from the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI).
After that, he went to Kabale Municipal stadium, where the match was organized. However, he laid a wreath at a monument for the three fallen Front for National Salvation (FRONASA), who were killed during the late Iddi Amin’s Government.
They are the late James Karambuzi, a resident of Igabiro village in Mwanjari ward Southern Division, Kabale Municipality, together with David Kagoro Kangire, a resident of Kasoni village, Central ward, Mparo Town Council Rukiga district, and Joseph Bitwari former Kabale District Commissioner were executed on February 10, 1973, on the orders of the former president, Idi Amin Dada after being charged with treason.
After the match, Gen Keinerugaba presided over the handover of awards to all the participants including 38 riders, who participated in the 25-kilometer bicycle race from Katuna border to Kabale town.
