New Minister of State for Fisheries Robert Migadde assumes Office

The Minister of State for Agriculture Animal Industry and Fisheries Robert Migadde Ndugwa has appealed to all technical officers in the Ministry of Agriculture to first truck the Fisheries regulations so that they release the pressure in the sector.

Migadde who is also a member of parliament for Buvuma islands county made the call while receiving the instruments of office as a state minister for Fisheries at the Ministry of Agriculture headquarters in Entebbe.

He confirmed to the gatherings that the only way to remove pressure from the fishing sector is to first truck the Fisheries regulations.

“I have spent most of my life in Fisheries as a practitioner and I know most of the challenges affecting the sector. It’s what am bringing on table and I have never dealt in immature fish” he said  He also called upon all fishing practitioners across the country to join hands and clean the lake .

He said that most of the challenges facing the sector must be ironed by fishermen themselves.

He said that if fishermen want to be rich as they used to be,they must work with the government to clean the lake.”We shall work together to develop this sector” he pledged.

He further applauded the Ministry of Agriculture for the services rendered to Ugandans since Agriculture remains the backbone of the economy and contributes significantly to Uganda’s GDP.

Meanwhile the minister of state for Agriculture Desire Muhooza also pledged to bring new ideas in MAAIF to develop agriculture since it’s the backbone of Uganda.

“I also want to thank president Museveni for entrusting me and give me this chance. I really thank him. This is my first time to become a minister neither an MP and work harder for this sector ” she said

The Ministry of Agriculture permanent secretary Maj -Gen David Kasura Kyomukama during the handover ceremony pledged to support the Ministers by providing evidence based policy and technical advice on all programs and projects in MAAIF.

“We shall also ensure transparent and accountable use of resources inline with the public finance management Act 2015 as amended, procurement Laws and audit requirements “. He pledged.
