The delegation was led by Muslim clerics notably Sheikhs and Imams, political leaders from various parties as well as the general public and had a wonderful feast as they broke their fast.

The Clerics hailed and blessed Bulira for being an outstanding figure in pushing for justice and democracy in Uganda , but also for standing with the Muslim community not only in Uganda but across the world.

Speaking to the gathering , Bulira encouraged Muslims to use Ramadan as a time for reconciliation and strengthening community bonds as they support change and Federalism for a better Uganda.

‘’ I know Muslims are very honest people and I have worked with them almost all my entire life. Even during my campaigns , almost the majority of the support came from the Muslim friends and community despite disruptions from the ruling government’’, Bulira said.

Bulira also attributed his  performance in the recent presidential election to what he described as deliberate actions by the government that severely undermined his campaign and also alleged part of his votes were channeled to other candidates.

‘’My campaign was crippled by the freezing of his bank accounts and the confiscation of key campaign materials. Also I emerged third in the race but because most of my votes were added to other opposition candidates they declared me in another position’’, said Bulira.

Commenting about Robert Kyagulanyi, better known as Bobi Wine whom he referred to as ‘ my brother’ , Bulira said his announcement on Saturday that he is temporarily leaving the country after more than eight weeks of operating from undisclosed locations following the contested January 2026 presidential election was saddening and clear indication of a suffocated political space in Uganda, but noted that the best approach would be keeping in the country . He said this would be considered as abandoning the struggle , noting that as a RPP’s leader he can’t leave the country before finishing the cause for change.

Looking ahead, Bulira said the party will focus on issues benefiting all Ugandans while rebuilding its political structures.

As he charts his next political steps, Bulira says his vision for a more inclusive and just Uganda remains unchanged, despite the challenges encountered during the electoral process.

Bulira further asked the Muslim community to pray for peace in the Middle East , adding that the ongoing conflict is crippling the entire world and may result in a global ruin .
