The event, themed “Building a Personal Brand That Works as Hard as You Do”, challenged leaders to rethink visibility as a leadership and strategic asset, not a vanity metric.

“Today, personal branding is not just a career tool; it’s a leadership imperative. At this inaugural masterclass, we unpacked bold ideas, challenged limiting beliefs, and built strategies to amplify both individual presence and organizational success,” Ms. Tukei said.

One of the day’s most valuable moments came from Josephine Okui Ossiya, CEO of the Capital Markets Authority, first female president of Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) and Board Member of the Bank of Uganda, whose keynote, “Journey to the Boardroom and C-Suite Using Personal Branding” drew on her own career to demonstrate how deliberate visibility, thought leadership, and values alignment can accelerate progression to the highest levels of leadership. Ms. Ossiya underscored that building a credible personal brand is not about self-promotion, but about making your expertise, integrity, and leadership philosophy visible to the right audiences.

The programme also featured Dr. Paul Kasenene, founder of The Wellcare Uganda clinic, whose personal branding journey formed a case study in Ms. Tukei’s recently completed research: “Examining Online Personal Branding for Executives on X and its Influence on Public Perception of Companies.” Dr. Kasenene highlighted how his authentic, health-focused online presence not only built his credibility as a wellness authority but also positively influenced public trust and perception of his business, ultimately leading to business growth. Sharing his experience, he demonstrated the tangible link between an executive’s digital footprint and organisational outcomes.

Other notable voices included Jackie Tahakanizibwa, Shamim Walusimbi, Connie Nankya, Sumin Namaganda, Brian Mutungi, and Pepe Minambo, each offering practical strategies for leaders to merge authenticity with online visibility.

“Many professionals spend years doing the work, but very little time telling the story. Personal branding helps you own your narrative, position yourself as a trusted voice, and ensure your influence speaks long before you enter the room,” added Ms. Lyn Tukei.

For those who missed this inaugural session, Ms. Tukei confirmed more masterclasses are on the way: “This was only the first chapter. More is coming, and trust me, you’ll want to be in the room when it happens.”
