Sino-Uganda Mbale Industrial Park Donates UGX 48M Worth of Non-Food Items to Mbale Muslim Community

Sino-Uganda Mbale Industrial Park has donated non-food items worth UGX 48 million to the Muslim community in Mbale City as part of its corporate social responsibility. The donation was made Tuesday in appreciation of the community’s support for the park’s growth and success.

The contribution was intended for Eid celebrations and was made possible by several companies operating within the industrial park, including Grace Textile (U) Ltd, Pearlight Technology Co. Ltd, Unisteel Investment Uganda Ltd, Ujia Innovation Technology Ltd, Grace Foam Investment Ltd, Wan Way Textile and Garment Manufacturing Ltd, Hillbrook Industries Group Co. Ltd, Timber Paper Industry Uganda Co. Ltd, and Softcare U Ltd, among others.

The donated items included electric water kettles, shopping bags, televisions, juice blenders, mobile phones, mirrors, mats, bar soap, short-sleeved shirts, bed covers, bed sheets, pillows, prayer mats, jeans, baby diapers, mineral water, and UGX 4 million in cash.

Laurent Zhang, Administration Manager of Sino-Uganda Mbale Industrial Park, expressed his gratitude for the community’s support and emphasized the importance of giving back.

“As we celebrate the completion of the blessed month of Ramadan, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to each of you for your commitment, perseverance, and devotion during this sacred time,” Zhang said.

“It is with great joy that we donate these items, which are manufactured within the park, as a token of gratitude and solidarity with the Muslim community. This contribution reflects our commitment to the people who have supported our growth.” he noted.

Mbale City Resident City Commissioner (RCC) Asumin Nasike commended the park for its generosity, noting that it strengthens the bond between the investors and the local community.

Nasike told Bugisu intellectual that, the elders of long ago used to sit and eat together not because they had excess, but because of a spirit of love, togetherness, and sharing. That same spirit is being demonstrated today.

Nasike reassured the investors of the government’s continued support. “We gave you space to operate, and you are giving back to our people. We pledge to protect and support you as you expand your businesses.”

In an interview with Bugisu intellectual, Mbale City Mayor Cassim Namugali also praised the park’s commitment to community welfare.

“It is always good to give back to the people who support you. This gesture makes them feel part of the community, and it strengthens the relationship between investors and locals,” Namugali said.

He also acknowledged the park’s past contributions, stating, “When we needed assistance for clearing our dumping site, the park provided wheel loaders to help. They have continuously supported the city.”

Dr. Sheikh Ahmad Wadenga, the Regional Assistant to the Mufti for the Eastern Region, while briefing Bugisu intellectual forum, urged Ugandans to embrace the “Buy Uganda, Build Uganda” (BUBU) initiative.

“As the Bagisu say, ‘I give to those who give to me.’ Let us support this park because they stand with us,” he said.

He also highlighted the park’s economic impact, noting that it has created jobs and business opportunities for Ugandans. Many have benefited directly and indirectly, including youth employed at the park and small-scale traders selling food and transport services around the facility.
