Celebrated Ugandan singer and songwriter Asha Naava Zziwa, popularly known as Naava Grey, Tuesday surprised Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, the head of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) with a heartfelt gesture in show of her deep appreciation for her role in the success of her first ever music concert held on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2025, at Kampala Serena Hotel.

The singer’s lively concert exceeded all expectations, with a fully packed audience that filled the prestigious Serena Hotel.

In recognition of Hajjat Namyalo’s support, Naava Grey personally visited the ONC headquarters in Kyambogo, where she delivered a bouquet of flowers and a cake as tokens of gratitude.

Known for her soulful voice and powerful lyrics, Naava expressed how Hajjat Namyalo’s belief in her helped make the concert a reality. She shared that Hajjat Namyalo not only purchased a significant number of tickets for herself and her team but also took it upon herself to mobilize the Bazzukulu to attend the event in big numbers.

Naava recalled how nervous she was about the turnout for her debut live concert but noted that Hajjat Namyalo encouraged and supported her, which gave her the confidence to deliver an unforgettable show. “I owe much of this success to Hajjat Namyalo. She believed in me and supported me in ways I couldn’t have imagined,” she said, holding back tears.

“Music is a powerful tool that brings people together and speaks to the soul. Naava Grey is one of the brightest stars we have, and I am glad to have played a small part in her journey,” Hajjat Namyalo said, adding that she is one of a kind because many artists rarely return to appreciate after that much success.

Hajjat also encouraged Naava Grey to continue pursuing her musical dreams, urging other Ugandan artists to seek strength in unity. “When we support each other, we rise together,” she said, adding that ONC will always stand by artists who use their talents to inspire and uplift communities.

Naava Grey, visibly moved, promised to continue making music that resonates with the hearts of Ugandans. “This is just the beginning. I am overwhelmed by the love and support I’ve received, and I am more determined than ever to continue making music that resonates with the hearts of Ugandans,” she said.

About Naava Grey’s Concert

Naava Grey’s Valentine’s Day concert was a milestone in her career, drawing hundreds of fans and featuring some of her biggest hits, including “Ninga Omuloge” and “Soka Lami.” She took to the stage at 9:30 p.m., clad in an all-white outfit, and began her set with “Aliba Wani,” the song that first introduced her to the music scene.

The concert featured energetic performances, with Naava Grey singing some of her biggest songs without needing her background vocalists as the audience sang along loudly, creating an electric atmosphere that nearly tested the limits of Serena Hotel’s security.

The night reached its climax when Naava invited some of her fellow artists, including Mun*G, to perform “Sejjusa” and “Champion.” Bruno K, Kenneth Mugabi, and Uganda’s Trace Awards nominee, Joshua Baraka, also joined the stage to perform with Naava Grey.

The event, marked by high production value and a captivated audience, solidified Naava Grey’s place as one of Uganda’s leading music talents.
