‘’Most of the opposition politicians don’t want to work with the government even when they see good programs they will oppose them. That’s why voters around Kampala are not benefiting from these leaders. Now people of Kira you have gotten the opportunity. You have got a very capable person who loves and supports NRM with a heart of supporting and developing the people’’, said Katwire.

During a consultative meeting at Kananura’s upcountry home in Kashari convened by religious and opinion leaders , business community , Kira and Mbarara leaders , NRM , PLU top leaders among others on Sunday leaders said Kananura had proven to be competent and developmental to the area despite not being an MP.

Mr Justus Nkasiiza, the LCI chairperson for Nyamunyobwa village who spoke on behalf of the local leaders hailed Kananura for being soft hearted and developmental , urging him not to always support Kashari stakeholders despite shifting his political ambitions to Kira.

Hon. Musinguzi Patrick Rukurwe, another politician from Kashari noted that Kananura has been an icon in the area due to his uniying character and asked the people of Kira to support him and join his bid to transform the constituency.

Addressing participants at Kashari , Kananura vowed to liberate Kira and ensure that service delivery reaches the lowest person in the constituency. Kananura explained that he decided to listen to the prayers of the stakeholders in Kira who asked him to be their leader as they embark on reviving Kira Municipality.

Opinion Leaders in  Kira , Religious leaders, Technocrats, Political Leaders,  Academia  among other stakeholders believe that Kananura is capable of transforming the area.

Kira Municipality is expected to grow to 1,591,390 people by 2040 from 317,157 in 2014. As the municipality continues to struggle with a sprawling population from the GKMA region and immigration from the rest of the country this has resulted in numerous haphazard settlements, garbage and poor living conditions in some densely populated areas of the municipality.

Kira Municipality is located along the major roads running from Kampala to Jinja in the East and Kalagi road in the North, it has a unique position because it located along the major transportation corridor. It is therefore used as a dormitory for people who work in Kampala but reside in the municipality. The Municipality of Kira is experiencing rapid growth with ever growing demand for housing, employment, services and utilities.

The challenges of growth, development and servicing in Kampala, have triggered a sprawl of growth centres in the Municipality. The municipality’s demographic growth has historically been based on the combination of natural growth and in-migration.

The population of Kira is structured (Younging) in a similar way as the population of Uganda and other developing countries. The population is highest between 14 and 64 years of age. The implication of this distribution is high demand for services, housing and employment.

The quality of housing in the municipality is generally good in terms of space available for residence. The only exception is in the informal settlements (slums) found in Kireka, Kasokoso, Kireku and Kamuli among others where temporary construction materials are used and the housing units are cramped together.

A former aspirant in Kashari North ,Mbarara,  Kananura is the Kira Municipality Chief Mobiliser for Muhoozi Kainerugaba (MK) led PLU. Early this year, he  graduated with a Master’s degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management from Makerere University.

Kananura , whom Kashari North showered with blessings to move to Kira and uproot Ssemujju is an ardent supporter of Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Uganda’s first son and the Chief of Defence forces (CDF).

Prior to graduating with a Master’s degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management from Makerere University, Kananura is also pursuing a law degree in one of the prominent universities in the country.

An ardent supporter of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and Gen.Muhoozi, Kananura a procurement consultant and renowned businessman is celebrated for his advanced mobilization skills, which prompted his appointment to the office of the Kira Municipality mobiliser for PLU

At Kashari, Kananura is loved for advocating for Infrastructure Development (road links), fully functionalized healthcare system, Ideological Orientation of the Young Turks, realignment of Education Policy and restructuring, women and youth empowerment, rural electrification among other programs the reason many believes he will transform Kira Municipality.
