Standard Chartered Hosts 200 Clients, ambassadors and Indian Community to Celebrate Diwali

Standard Chartered Bank Uganda celebrated the 2024 Diwali, with more than 200 clients, a host of VIPs, the Board and senior members of the Standard Chartered management.

The event is in line with the Bank’s Diversity and inclusion agenda and was presided over by the Chief Guest, His Excellency, the Indian High Commissioner – Mr. Upender Singh Rawat. In attendance were several distinguished dignitaries that included 13 High Commissioners from the ambassies of UK, Denmark, U.S, Germany, France, Italy, Netherlands, Ireland, Belgium, Tanzania, Turkey, Sweden, UAE and India.

Diwali is the biggest and the brightest of all festivals celebrated in India and it embodies values that resonate universally, including renewal, joy and connection.

Standard Chartered used the celebration to reaffirm its commitment to some of the 27,000-strong Indian Community in Uganda reminding them of its long history of leveraging its unique strength to serve them as they operate in multiple markets through cross border trade.

While delivering his remarks, the CEO, Sanjay Rughani said;

Adding; “Standard Chartered India has since 1853 offered top Indian conglomerates to Large Corporates, Mid-Market and Financial Institutions as well as a solid retail proposition that cover mass market. The Indian community in Uganda has leveraged these relations to enhance their cross-border businesses and banking needs.”
