Let’s Talk Foundation to Launch , Fundraise for the Mental Health Awareness and Sensitization Program for Schools
Theme’ Breaking the Silence: A New Chapter for Mental Health Awareness in Uganda , the launch and fundraising event is slated for May 29th May 2026 Fairway Hotel, in Uganda’s Capital Kampala.
‘’Mental health continues to be one of the most important yet overlooked challenges affecting young people in schools and universities today. Across communities, many students silently struggle with stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, substance abuse, academic pressure, and emotional isolation without access to proper support systems’’, said officials from Let’s Talk Foundation.
Officials say the event will bring together leaders, educators, mental health professionals, development partners, students, corporate organizations, and members of the public to unite for one purpose — breaking the silence surrounding mental health and promoting emotional wellbeing among young people.
The launch will serve as both a platform for awareness and a fundraising drive to support sustainable mental health interventions in schools and universities across Uganda.
Mental health affects every aspect of a student’s life, including academic performance, relationships, confidence, decision-making, and overall wellbeing. Unfortunately, stigma, misinformation, and fear often prevent many young people from seeking help. Some students suffer in silence, while others face discrimination simply because they are struggling emotionally.
The Mental Health Awareness and Sensitization Program aims to change this narrative by creating spaces where students feel heard, supported, and empowered. The program focuses on; Mental health awareness campaigns; School and university sensitization workshops ; Guidance and counseling support; Mental health clubs and peer support networks ; Suicide prevention awareness ; Substance abuse prevention education; Emotional wellness and resilience training;Community and parental engagement.
‘’By engaging schools, universities, parents, and communities, the program seeks to build a culture where mental health conversations are normalized and support is accessible. The Launch and Fundraising Event for the Mental Health Awareness and Sensitization Program for Schools and Universities marks a powerful step toward transforming mental health conversations in Uganda. It is more than an event — it is a movement dedicated to restoring hope, promoting healing, and building stronger communities through awareness, compassion, and action’’, added an official from Let’s Talk Foundation.

Experts say mental health is not an individual issue; it is a community responsibility. Schools cannot address these challenges alone. Families, institutions, policymakers, health professionals, religious leaders, development partners, and corporate organizations all have a role to play in creating supportive environments for young people.
Let’s Talk Foundation believes that together, we can build a future where students are empowered not only academically but also emotionally and psychologically. Through collaboration and collective action, it is possible to reduce stigma, encourage help-seeking behavior, and provide hope to those struggling silently.
Individuals and organizations are invited to support the cause through sponsorships, partnerships, donations, and participation in the launch and fundraising event. Every contribution will help extend mental health awareness and support services to more schools and universities across the country.
