ODPP Sanctions Murder Charges Against Okello Onyum Regarding the 4 Children Killed in Ggaba

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has sanctioned four murder charges against Christopher Okello Onyum for killing four children at Ggaba Early Childhood Development Centre last week.

According to the charge sheet, the prosecution alleges that Christopher Okello Onyum, on the 2nd day of April 2026, at Ggaba Early Childhood Development Center, Ggaba Trading Zone in Makindye Division, with malice aforethought, unlawfully caused the death of Eteku Gideon, Keisha Agenorwoth Otim, Sseruyange Ignitius, and Odeke Ryan.

This afternoon, Okello Onyum appeared before the Chief Magistrates’ Court of Makindye, where the charges were read to him and explained.

He was remanded in prison until tomorrow, April 8, 2026, when the case will be mentioned.

The case is being prosecuted by Mr. Jonathan Muwaganya and Ms. Anna Kiiza, Chief State Attorneys in the ODPP, before Her Worship Nanjala Aidah, Senior Magistrate Grade I.

The case has shaken the community, leaving families grieving and many searching for answers.

Justice now begins its course as the prosecution sets out to lay the evidence behind the heartbreaking tragedy before the court for examination.
