Makindye Mayoral NRM Flag Bearer Lobbies ICT lab for Muyenga High School
The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has announced it will establish and also Equip Muyenga High school , located in Muyenga , Makindye East with state-of-the-art ICT laboratory as part of an effort to improve learning facilities for science subjects in schools.

This followed an appeal from Mr Yasin Omar, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) mayoral flag bearer for Makindye division and senior leader in the area who currently serves as the lord councilor Makindye East 2 and local council chairperson II for Muyenga.
Mr Omar made the appeal during a UCC dialogue with residents of Muyenga and Ntinda residents over the establishment of masts in the area, a matter that had stalled for over three years.
Shortly after the discussion on the establishment of the masts, Mr Omar officially made an appeal to UCC , requesting for their support to establish public free wifi at Muyenga high school, a request which UCC executive director George William Thembo Nyombi welcomed and pledged to set up acstate-of-the-art ICT laboratory at the school.
The Ministry of Education and Sports has previously blamed lack of laboratories for the poor performance of students in science subjects during national examinations.
With a standard laboratory destined for Muyenga high school, Omar hopes that this will boost the study of sciences in the school enabling students to become future doctors, scientists and engineers.
The lab will offer general-purpose packages such as Ms. Office and Internet connection. The lab servers will also be capable of offering resource portals (gateway) to past papers, science virtual laboratories, and e-learning.
Omar Emphasized the importance of establishing the labs at schools which he said will promote digital inclusion.
“The lab is particularly important because it will mark a transformation in the way the school will deliver education in ICT. We can now expect improvements in the quality of ICT education and better ICT educational content,” Omar added.
