The award which was presented on Monday April 7,2025 saw the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) named Runner-up for Best Investment Promotion Agency in Africa—marking the third consecutive year the country has received an international award for investment excellence.

As part of the three-day AIM Congress, held from April 7 to 9, 2025, the Awards ceremony recognized the top-performing investment promotion agencies from around the world, with over 50 agencies competing this year.

Uganda’s entry for the award featured Tembo Steels, the most diversified and vertically integrated steel plant in Africa.

The award recognizes Uganda’s commitment to promoting and supporting private sector investors better than many other African countries.

Uganda’s Ambassador to the UAE, Zaake Wanume Kibedi, received the award on behalf of the country and expressed his gratitude. He presented the award to Tembo steels officials and Ministry of foreign affairs this week at an event officiated by Bagiire Vincent Waiswa Permanent Secretary.

“We thank the government of Uganda, the UAE, the UIA, and the private sector for the joint effort that made this possible, we are here to promote Uganda’s economic and commercial diplomacy,” he said.

Also present at the awards was Stephen Asiimwe, CEO of the Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU), and Stephen Kalibbala, Vice President of the Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UNCCI).
