Airtel Uganda Launches Nationwide Iftar Campaign, Taking the Holy Month Celebrations to Communities Across Uganda
Airtel Uganda launched its 2025 nationwide Iftar campaign to celebrate the spirit of Ramadhan by supporting Muslim communities across the country. The month-long initiative will see Airtel host Iftar dinners across nine regions of Uganda, namely: Kampala, Mbale, Gulu, Kabale, Luwero, Jinja, Fort Portal, Masaka & Arua, bringing the holy month celebrations closer to the communities it serves.
The campaign, which reinforces Airtel’s commitment to community engagement, will feature bi-weekly Iftar dinners throughout the month of Ramadhan, with each event hosting 150 guests including senior religious leaders from the respective regions.
Speaking at the launch, Airtel Uganda’s Sales & Distribution Director, Ali Balunywa highlighted the essence of this holy period. He said, “Every year, the holy month of Ramadhan reminds us of the values of faith, gratitude, and community. It is a time of reflection, generosity, and coming together to share in the blessings of Iftar. For years, Airtel Uganda has had the privilege of hosting our esteemed Muslim customers for an Iftar dinner in Kampala. This year, we are taking this tradition further by bringing Iftar closer to the communities we serve across the country.”
The Iftar dinners will be held at selected venues in each region, creating an opportunity for Airtel to engage directly with its Muslim customers during this significant period. Additionally, special gift hampers will be presented to 10 Sheikhs in each region as a token of appreciation for their leadership and guidance within their communities.
Sheikh Hamid Nsubuga, Imam of Masjid Musa Hotel Africana, commended Airtel Uganda for fostering community connections by acknowledging this the holy month. He said, “Tonight is about engaging with the Airtel community, building connections, and strengthening relationships. I am pleased that Airtel has made this effort in recognizing and supporting the Muslim community. I also urge all of us to continue doing good even after Ramadhan.”
Uganda’s telecommunications sector has increasingly embraced cultural initiatives as a means of strengthening customer relationships. “Through this campaign, we aim to create meaningful moments of connection with our customers while honouring the traditions of Ramadhan. It’s about more than business, it’s about being present in the lives of the communities we serve,” added Balunywa.
The campaign will cover multiple regions, ensuring that diverse communities benefit from the initiative. In addition to hosting iftar meals, Airtel Uganda will continue to offer special Ramadhan promotions, such as the Airtel Ramadhan bundles, enabling customers to stay connected with their loved ones during this sacred period.
Airtel Uganda remains committed to enriching lives through inclusive initiatives that resonate with the values and traditions of its customers.
