Pearl Link Safaris Organizes World Tourism Day March at Uganda Museum

In a bid to promote Uganda’s tourism, Pearl Link Safaris, a leading East African Tour and Travel company incorporated in Uganda and Rwanda has organized the World Tourism Day March, a dynamic and engaging tourism awareness march intended at promoting responsible tourism practices and fostering community engagement.

According to a press statement issued by Mr Mpambaara Tevin Curts the Public Relations Manager at Pearl Link Safaris, World Tourism Day March, scheduled to take place on Wednesday 27th September, 2023 at Uganda

Museum Parking is set to be a vibrant celebration of responsible tourism’s positive impact on our local- community.

The event brings together community members, local organizations, schools, and tourists for a day filled with educational activities, cultural displays, and interactive workshops. Key Event Highlight include: Interactive workshops on responsible tourism practices; Cultural performances showcasing the diversity of our community; Local artisans and vendors highlighting sustainable products; Engaging activities for families, students, and tourists alike.

“We are excited to create a platform that not only raises awareness about responsible tourism but also fosters a sense of unity within our community,” said Mpambaara adding that this event serves as a testament their commitment to sustainable practices and community well-being.

World Tourism Day March organizers have invites participants of all ages and backgrounds to come together, learn, and celebrate the importance of responsible tourism. By attending individuals can take an active step towards preserving the natural and cultural heritage for generations to come, according to organizers who noted that the public should join them in embracing the spirit of responsible tourism and community engagement.

Since 1980, the United Nations World Tourism Organization has celebrated World Tourism Day as international observances on September 27. This date was chosen as on that day in 1970, the Statutes of the UNWTO were adopted. The adoption of these Statutes is considered a milestone in global tourism.

Information from UTB indicates that Uganda’s tourism sector is steadily recovering and the latest statistics indicate that Uganda got 814508 tourists in 2022 which earned the country $736m.
