It has finally emerged that several key opposition leaders have secretly met and agreed to support Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations in his Presidential bid come 2026, the latest being embattled National Unity Platform (NUP)’s Hon.Jimmy Lwanga who represents Njeru Municipality.
Photos leaked to this website , Lwanga and Gen.Muhoozi are seen in a historic handshake allegedly after the former and other MPs agreed to back the first son come 2026 , a development which has rocked the opposition camp in the country.
‘’We have been telling Ugandans especially in Njeru that Lwanga and other MPs are in ‘ bed’ with the ruling government and strongly supporting its political agenda but some of us at the secretariat think we are fighting these legislators but it’s now the truth is coming out ‘’, said one of the leaders at the NUP Headquarters in Kampala.
It should be remembered that Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Ugandan leader Yoweri Museveni’s son announced his candidacy for the 2026 presidential election, saying it was “time for our generation to shine,” before retracting his tweet. Since then, Muhoozi, the former commander of Land Forces of the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces has been ‘fishing’ several leaders including from the Opposition to join his camp.
‘’ As leaders in the opposition NUP from the Buikwe we want Lwanga to resign from the party and stop being double edged .We are not happy with him; we also ask that he should stop attacking other party leaders in the District . It is not taking us anywhere unless you were sent by the government to malice other party leaders and you will be paid with your team,” a source said.
After his election on NUP ticket to Parliament, Lwanga and other opposition MPs have also been at loggerheads with the Party leadership in Kampala and within the District structures. The NUP party accuses Lwanga of betraying ‘the struggle’ by continuing to secretly deal with the incumbent regime which the party accuses of gross human rights violations on Ugandans.
Although he hasn’t publicly denounced the ‘Gheto President’s Kamwokya headquartered opposition camp, Lwanga is not the first MP to dump Kyagulanyi’s NUP political Party and to join Gen.Muhoozi’s 2026 ambition drive.
Recently, Bukoto South Member of Parliament, Dr. Twaha Kagabo reportedly ditched NUP and joined MK Movement, a pressure group spearheaded by First Son, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
We have been told that Lwanga, who immediately took on lavish life including splashing money on juicy babes, driving expensive cars and erecting commercial buildings is facing stiff resistance from the electorates who have since vowed to ‘bin’ him in the coming elections should his appetite for another parliamentary term amplifies.
In the previous election, Lwanga who emanated from the local government politics as Njeru Municipality Speaker garnered 13,676 votes and won the ballot vote Competition in this election on National Unity Platform ticket to become the Njeru Municipality MP.
Others in the race were ;Nyago Diana Hope of the National Resistance Movement(NRM) who polled 7,234 votes, Musoke Paul Sebulime (Independent and former MP) 6,736 votes , Kabuye Badiru Mpoza (Independent) 6,094 votes, Emolu Godfrey Kizza of Forum for Democratic Change(FDC) 4,476 votes and Onyango David (Independent) garnered 2,275 votes.

Uganda’s President Museveni, while punching holes to Uganda’s inconsistent Opposition brand, is popularly quoted to have said ‘there would be no Opposition in Uganda in the future’.
Museveni has always said there is no genuine opposition in Uganda, describing some of the people who oppose his regime as disgruntled people.
IN THE NEXT EDITION, WE ARE BRINGING YOU THE FULL DETAILS ABOUT HOW LWANGA HAS BEEN CLANDESTINELY WORKING WITH THE RULING PARTY TO FRUSTRATE KYAGULANYI’S NUP.
